6 months down, 16 weeks to go!

Baby's size:  Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts her at just over a pound. Since she's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), she cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but her body is filling out proportionally and she'll soon start to plump up.

Baby's development: Her brain is also growing quickly now, and her taste buds are continuing to develop. Her lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help her air sacs inflate once she hits the outside world. Her skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

Best of the week: Bella is still on the move. Chris and I are able to feel her frequently. Last night while I was sleeping, Chris was holding my belly. He said she was boxing his hand. :) In fact, she is moving right now as I type!

Worst of the week: Frequent trips to the bathroom.

Side Effects: See above. Apparently my bladder is Bella's pillow!  Also, I am sleeping a lot.  Right now, I am averaging 9-11 hours a night. People keep telling me to rest while I can!

Cravings: Still potatoes!  And fried okra! Last night's dinner included both!

This week's goals: Work on my pregnancy album!
Anticipating:  My glucose tolerance test...hope the results come back negative!

Finally! A bump is forming!

23 weeks! 119 days to go!

Baby's size: And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound (about as much as a large mango), you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes.

Baby's development: Turn on the radio and sway to the music. With her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance.  Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Loud noises that become familiar now — such as your dog barking or the roar of the vacuum cleaner — probably won't faze her when she hears them outside the womb.

Best of the week: Bella is moving like crazy! Chris was able to feel her on Sunday! He was so excited he told me to write the date down!

Worst of the week: Indecisive about what I want to eat

Side Effects: Inconsistent sleeping patterns. One night I will sleep 10 hours, the next night I'll be wide awake at 5:30 a.m.

Cravings: Halloween candy. Although I think that has more to do with the season and not my pregnancy!

This week's goals: Drink more water, start cardio walking, start nesting! (Same as last week)

Anticipating: Seeing how Bella does on a road trip!  We are headed up to the mountains for a couples get-a-way! And of course, the UA vs. TN game!

Pics:  So I had planned on taking pictures tonight when Chris gets home..but I've been in my p.j.'s all day and don't feel like changing..guess I will have some next week for the 6 month pics! :)

Huntsville Baby Shower

My best friend since middle school, Natalie, along with her mom, Mrs. Temple, and my mom hosted an awesome baby shower for me at my home church.  They put so much thought and effort into the food and gifts!  It was great fun, and I am looking forward to my next shower in Birmingham in November!

22 weeks!

124 days to go!

Baby's size: At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn.
Baby's development: Her lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and she's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath her gums. Her eyes have formed, but her irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her body and the deep wrinkles on her skin, which she'll sport until she adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside her belly, her pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Best of the week: Being able to feel the baby's movement from the outside of my belly!

Worst of the week: Still not sleeping through the night

Side Effects: Burping!

Cravings: None this week!

This week's goals: Get more sleep, drink more water, start cardio walking, start nesting!

Anticipating: My first shower tomorrow!

Sorry, no pics! We were slackers this week!

Baby Shower blog post coming soon!

21 weeks!

133 days to go!

Baby's size: Your baby now weighs three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long -- the length of a carrot/banana.

Baby's development:  She's practicing martial arts as her initial fluttering movements turn into full-fledged kicks and nudges.  In other developments, my baby's eyebrows and lids are present now.

Best of the week: Finding out the baby's sex! It's a girl! Going to register for girl things! Picking out the nursery theme!

Worst of the week: I'm having trouble getting comfortable at night. Lots of tossing and turning.

Side Effects: Occasional nausea in the afternoons, and a constant need for napping!

Cravings: Potatoes!

This week's Goal: To kick up those feet and have Chris massage them! :)

Anticipating: My first shower next weekend!

5 month Check Up!

Sonogram:

We found out the baby is a girl! She weighs 11 oz.  We were able to see her spine, hands, feet, lets, arms, and tummy!  She is a thumb sucker. :)  She was very active and kicked a lot.  Our nurse said she hasn't been wrong about the sex in 15 years so we are pretty confident with those odds! :)

Her name will be Isabella Rose aka Bella Rose.  (No, it has nothing to do with Twilight...just a coincidence)

Doctor's Visit:

Weight Gain:  3 lbs total

Blood pressure: 102/70 -- my blood pressure has been lower since being pregnant! Imagine that!

Baby's heart rate: 140

Size of baby bump: 21 cm

Lab work: Good to go!

Doctor's notes: Drink plenty of water and you should be showing more soon!

Next visit:  Sugar test..yuck!

Next sonogram: November 1 -- we get to see the chambers of her heart! :)

Baby Registry Adventure!

My mom came in town, so Chris, mom, and I went baby shopping!  We registered at Target and Babies R Us. I heard that all the cool moms shop there (Joy and Jennifer!).  It was a fun time to share with my mom. She is super excited about being a grandmother again! This will be her 4th grand baby!  Normally, shopping makes me a bit nauseous, but I made it through our 5 hour marathon!  Chris and I both walked away pretty overwhelmed at everything it takes to take care of a baby!

Below are pictures from our fun day!

More pics coming soon! My mom has to figure out how to download and email pics! :)
